If you feel confident enough to experiment, let the humidity come down to
67, or even 65. It's a matter of personal preference, of course, but a
great many of us find it increases flavour and smokeability.

Actually, I kept my old humidor at 65 and yes, it made for a great
smoke. Think I'll let this one slide down then keep it there. And yes,
everything goes into the freezer first before the humidor from now on!
Oh, and what are people's feelings about post freezing waiting time?

I always freeze if I have any reason to think I should. Better safe
than sorry. After freezing, I usually wait at least one month, two if
I can. I'll pull one or two before freezing if they're something I
just can't wait to try.

Mickey has it right -- four to six weeks is a minimum.
When I buy stuff for immediate consumption, I don't really bother with
freezing. It's simpler to quarantine such purchases in a separate humidor
(or tupperware container), I find.

I too freeze everything, but I don't seem to wait as long as others. I
usually wait at least 2 weeks, but have been known to only wait a few days.
I've not run a formal test, but anecdotally I have perceived no difference.
Maybe I'll take 5 well-known (to my palate) small cigars, put them through
a typical 5 day freeze, smoke with 24 hours of defrosting, then one a week

I did that for a few years after a couple of infestations.
I've gotten a little more lax now but still freeze most and keep an eye on
those that I don't for a period of time.
